Rancho Los Cerritos

Rancho Los Cerritos is located on the ancestral and current land of the Tongva/Gabrielino people. This beautiful space is not only a great place to take photos, but it also presents an opportunity to learn about the history of the venue. From stunning gardens and courtyard to a picturesque windmill and water tower, there are plenty of sights to take in and appreciate.

The land is open to the public on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to Rancho Los Cerritos is free, and reservations are recommended . Heartwell Park

Natural lighting and beautiful scenery are key to great photos, making parks the perfect choice. Heartwell Park is another gorgeous option for a fun photoshoot outside. The 122.5 acres of scenic landscaped grounds offer picnic areas, fields, a bike path, and a playground for you to explore as you take photos. 

Heartwell Park also has a private parking lot and street parking, making it easy to bring your photo gear along with you. Not only is it great for kids, but dogs are also allowed. What a perfect spot for a family photo shoot with your children and furry friends!

Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden

There’s a reason why gardens make such a great photo spot: They offer colorful blossoms, gorgeous pathways, and wildlife like fish and birds to admire. At the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden —described as a living museum—visitors can feed koi , walk the pathways, see the Tea House, or take a moment to reflect at the Zen Garden. 

The garden is open on Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please make a reservation to visit on the mobile app or online visitor portal . Reservations are free and good for groups of up to six people. If you would like to visit with a group of 12 or more people, please email a coordinator at JGcoordinators@csulb.edu a week in advance to obtain approval. Also, keep in mind that if you’d like to feed the koi, you must make an additional reservation.

Hillcrest Park

Opened in 1922, Hillcrest Park is the oldest park in the city of Fullerton. The park offers 37.8 acres of beautiful views, mature trees, large picnic areas, stone steps, and renovations. For example, the 1920s-era Works Progress Administration (WPA) historic fountain was completed in 2018, offering a gorgeous backdrop for your photos. Similarly, the Hillcrest Stairs is a famous area of the park that features large timber stairs leading to Lions Field. 

Hillcrest Park is open every day from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., giving visitors plenty of time to strike a pose in front of stunning backdrops. Enjoy open parking, barbecues, playgrounds, recreation centers and trails, picnic tables, and more while you take photos.
