Lakewood Center Farmer’s Market

There’s something special about a Saturday morning spent strolling through a farmer’s market. In the summertime, when the weather is warm and delicious fruit is in bloom, it’s even better. In Lakewood, the Lakewood Center Mall has its very own farmer’s market with fresh food, including homemade jelly, pupusas, bread, hummus, tamales, juices, and cherimoya. They even sell a variety of flowers that can brighten up your apartment! 

It’s also the perfect place to bring your loved ones for a nice walk outside. Whether it’s your best friend, roommate, or favorite furry friend, Lakewood Center Farmer’s Market offers an exciting backdrop to a slow morning. Dog owners will especially love the fact that the market offers its own dog booth with a variety of goodies. 

Lakewood Equestrian Center

Want to pick up a new skill? Consider horseback riding! At The Lakewood Equestrian Center, a public equestrian facility, you can enjoy a variety of fun activities, such as pony rides, camps, a petting zoo, and a ride through miles of gorgeous trails along the San Gabriel River. They also offer riding lessons for adults and children over the age of seven! Even if you’ve never been near a horse before, it’s the perfect place to learn and get started. The boarding and training facility is open to the public seven days a week, from dawn to dusk, so you can visit any time that works best for you.

Lakewood Golf Club

Nothing screams summertime quite like a game of golf. Lucky for us, Lakewood, CA, has its very own golf club! Designed in 1933, the club boasts over 7,000 yards of space, tree-lined fairways, and a practice facility fit with amazing amenities to make sure you have everything you need to have the best golf experience possible. Gorgeous greenery and man-made Lake Bouton make the course not only challenging but also a sight to behold. 

Love the club so much that you want it for more than just a round of golf? You can rent out the space for a special event ! They’re available for everything from small corporate events, quinceñeras, and holiday parties to engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, and weddings. 

Cachuma Lake Campground

What better summer activity to spend quality time with your loved ones completely unplugged than to go camping? Located in Santa Barbara, Cachuma Lake Campground is surrounded by the beautiful San Rafael Mountains. With mild temperatures, sunny skies, and prime fishing conditions, the area makes the perfect fun and relaxing getaway for anyone looking to escape into nature for a weekend getaway.

The campground is located off Highway 154 in the Santa Ynez Valley, midway between beaches in Santa Barbara and Solvang. If you would like to make a reservation, you can book tent sites, cabins, yurts, and group areas. Cabins feature full bathrooms and kitchenettes, while dedicated camping grounds are available for you and your loved ones to set up tents. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance. There is also a two-night minimum stay for weekend reservations and a three-night minimum for holidays. Want to bring your favorite furry friend? Dogs are also welcome throughout the park!

Sunset Vibes at Vista Silent Disco

What’s summer fun in Lakewood without music and dancing? On the first Sunday of every month, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., World of Sound Productions hosts a silent disco celebration open to anyone and everyone. There are four stages, 12 DJs, and professional lighting—everything you need for the perfect silent disco. With headphones that have a quarter-mile range in every direction and four different vibes to choose from, you can make the event your very own experience. Music ranges from spinning disco, house music, hip hop, and remixes spanning the 70s to the current day. Bring your best friend, roommate, spouse, or kids and dance together on the beach to your favorite vibes! 

The Long Beach Juneteenth Celebration Festival

June 19, also known as Juneteenth , is the longest-running celebration of the end of slavery. Originating in Galveston, Texas, Juneteenth has been celebrated annually since 1865 and was officially recognized as a national holiday in 2021. The holiday commemorates freedom and highlights education and achievement. 

On June 18 in Long Beach, you can attend a very special celebration at Rainbow Lagoon Park. The event will feature a variety of music, food, performances, art, activities, and culture. Created to help build, educate, and celebrate the Black community, the Long Beach Juneteenth Celebration Festival is the perfect opportunity to connect with your community and enjoy some much-needed positivity all around!

Hollywood Fringe Festival

Do you love the arts? Then we’ve got the perfect event for you! The Hollywood Fringe Festival takes place every summer, making it the perfect annual celebration for those in the LA area who love celebrating art and expression. The Opening Night Party is on June 8, 2022, and the festival runs till June 26. 

As the biggest celebration of the arts and expression in LA, Hollywood Fringe is more than just a fun event. This festival is inclusive of people from all backgrounds, even providing ASL interpreters for anyone who needs it. It offers a variety of exciting shows for anyone to enjoy, including workshops, town halls, hybrid performances, and virtual performances. Viva! LA Music Festival

Do you love artists like J. Balvin, Daddy Yankee, or Becky G., or dancing with your best friends to popular songs? Then this festival is an amazing way to spend one of your Saturdays this summer! On June 25, 2022, the Viva! LA Music Festival will take place in Dodger Stadium and feature a variety of artists such as El Fantasma, Kali Uchis, Los Dos Carnales, Los Tucanes de Tijuana, Omar Apollo, Cuco, The Marias, and more! 

The most basic ticket includes access to all general admission, including food and beverage vendors and all stages. There are also three more levels of tickets: GA+, VIP, and VIP+, which come with additional benefits, like private bathrooms, merch, and more. Quantity is limited for each of the pricing tiers, so be sure to check it out early if you’d like to attend! 

On top of having a great time listening to amazing music, the Viva! LA Music Festival will donate $1 per ticket sold to No Us Without You LA, their nonprofit partner. This is an amazing opportunity to support your community and celebrate the summertime!

Summer Concerts in the Park

Imagine spreading out a blanket, sitting with your favorite drink in your hand, and vibing to your favorite style of music at a beautiful park. The dream isn’t too far from reality! This summer at Del Valle Park, you can catch a concert from your choice of band every Thursday. This is a perfect summer activity near Lakewood for you music lovers!

Ironstone Wine and Art Festival

Music festivals or concerts aren’t really your thing? Consider attending an arts festival! On June 11 and 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Wine and Art Festival in Murphys, CA, at the Ironstone Vineyards will feature handcrafted art from 50 small makers, including paintings, jewelry, woodwork, wearables, and more. Artists themselves will even be there to answer questions about their work! 

If you’re looking for a free event that’s family-friendly, this could be the perfect choice! There will be fun activities for people across all age groups, including face painting, wine tasting, delicious food, and more. On top of offering the sights of beautiful art, the Ironstone Vineyards also provide gardens, 12 acres of land, and a breathtaking backdrop.
