At Lakewood Manor Apartments, we love pets! Our pet-friendly environment is the perfect living space for you and your furry friends to call home.

For some, owning a pet in an apartment may be new and something to get used to. For those of you in this boat, here are three tips for living with pets in an apartment. You’ll be an expert at pet–apartment living in no time.

Give Your Pet Plenty of Exercise

Something that will be the most beneficial for your pet is to make sure that it is getting plenty of exercise. Living in an apartment can sometimes be difficult for some pets to stay as active as they’d like to be. Providing exercise for your pet can happen in a variety of ways, including taking your pet on a walk or a jog with you, challenging your pet to a game of tug of war, or spending time at a local dog park.

For our dog owners, going to a local dog park is a great way to keep your dog in shape! When referring to dog parks, Susan Nelson with Kansas State University’s Veterinary Health Center states, “They’re great places to let dogs stretch their legs, burn off some energy and have some fun.”

Luckily, Lakewood Manor is close to some great dog parks! Here are three great dog parks that are close to home:

Each of these dog parks is less than three miles from our property, so it is convenient for both you and your dog! These dog parks are sure to keep your dog happy, so check them out!

Provide Entertainment

Just like humans, pets can get depressed and lonely. To overcome this, make sure to give your pet plenty of playtime and entertainment. Taking time to play one on one with your pet is one way to keep them entertained and make them feel loved. You can also purchase toys that will keep your pet happy!

To give some good ideas for what toys you could purchase, Martha Sorren with Woman’s Day lists “20 Indoor Dog Toys to Keep Your Pup Entertained,” and Lindsay Boyers provides us with “The 11 Best Cat Toys of 2021.” By spending personal playtime with your pet and purchasing toys for them, you can keep your furry friend happy and healthy!

Keep It Tidy

Another way to best enjoy your pet-friendly apartment is to keep it tidy! When you keep your apartment tidy, it will help you better enjoy your time in your apartment, and it will keep your pets safe and out of trouble.
