It’s officially summertime, and you know what that means: long days spent at the beach, ice cream trips with friends, blue skies, road trips, and plenty of sunshine. At Lakewood Manor Apartment Homes, summer is our favorite season to plan fun activities to spend with our loved ones.

If you’re looking for fun and unique summer activities in Lakewood to add to your summer bucket list, you’ve come to the perfect place. Whip out your colored pencils and a sheet of paper and consider adding these three activities to your list.

Take a Horseback Riding Lesson at Lakewood Equestrian Center

Whether you love horses or have never ridden one before in your life, the Lakewood Equestrian Center has a variety of activities open to the public, including riding lessons, pony rides, horse training and boarding, and a petting zoo. Not only can equestrian enthusiasts and newbies visit the center any day of the week from dawn to dusk, but they can also host birthday parties, attend camps, and experience special family-friendly events.

Shoestring City Ranch, a nonprofit organization that uses rescued horses to foster equine education, also offers several opportunities for volunteer work. They host a therapy program designed to help abandoned horses and youth bond with one another, teaching kids the skills needed to care for an animal.

Enjoy a Concert in the Park

Lakewood’s concerts-in-the-park series is one of the city’s most popular summer activities. While the season in 2020 was hosted virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they are set to host six live concerts this summer beginning on July 8 and running through August 12.

The schedule includes musical acts such as Stone Soul, a Motown tribute band; Hard Days Nights, which will perform a Beatles tribute; and Knyght Ryder, an 80s and 90s cover band. For every Thursday evening this month, consider enjoying some quality time with your loved ones and dancing in the park to a few of your favorite hits.

Hike at a Local Park

Lakewood, California, is full of beautiful parks to explore. The best thing about parks is that there are so many different things you can do there. Between walking and biking trails, picnic tables and shelters, gardens, and playgrounds, many of the parks here feature several fun activities.

Hiking is one of our favorite summer activities in Lakewood. Some of the best places to hike in the city include the following:

  • West San Gabriel River Parkway Nature Trail
  • El Dorado Nature Center
  • Hilltop Park
  • Don Knabe Community Regional Park

However you decide to spend your time at the park, you’ll be able to enjoy some beautiful views and soak up the sunshine.

Summer is the perfect time to put together a list of activities that you want to do before the weather cools down.
